Two Teenagers Taken into Custody After Serious E-Bike Incident in Hermosa Beach
Two Teens Arrested in Hermosa Beach Assault Incident
LOS ANGELES – Authorities have arrested two teenagers linked to a violent e-bike attack on a man in Hermosa Beach. The incident, which took place on Friday, November 21, drew widespread attention and concern within the community.
The Hermosa Beach Police Department reported that a total of five minors were involved in the attack, with two being identified as the primary aggressors. All individuals involved are between the ages of 13 and 15. Law enforcement officials are currently in touch with the parents of the remaining minors and plan to present the case to the prosecutor’s office soon.
According to police, around 8 p.m. on the night of the incident, a 56-year-old man was assaulted near 11th Court and Beach Drive while walking home from a restaurant with a pizza box in hand. He was unexpectedly encircled and attacked by the group. Bystanders quickly summoned emergency services, and officers arrived two minutes later to find the man unresponsive. He was transported to a hospital and suffered what neighbors described as a severe concussion.
Witness accounts detail a brutal assault during which the victim was punched, kicked, and stomped on before the suspects fled the scene on their e-bikes. Surveillance footage revealed that the assailants presumed the victim was dead, stating so in the video.
In the aftermath of the initial report, another victim, Hart Cardozo, came forward detailing a separate incident involving a similar group of teens on e-bikes. Cardozo reported that on October 28, while stopped at Pier and Hermosa, he was surrounded, had his tires slashed, and was struck in the head after exiting his vehicle.
These incidents are part of a troubling trend of aggression among groups of teens on e-bikes in Hermosa Beach. Residents have raised concerns and expressed outrage over the ongoing assaults, which follow earlier reports of teens launching fireworks and attacking pedestrians along The Strand.
