Tubi Brings You the New Dating Game Show ‘Why Are You Single?’ from Marie Faustin, Dave Mizzoni, and All Things Comedy
EXCLUSIVE: Streaming platform Tubi has acquired the first season of Why Are You Single?, a dating game show hosted by comedian Marie Faustin. Faustin co-created the series and serves as executive producer alongside Dave Mizzoni, with All Things Comedy acting as the studio partner.
In each episode, premiering on Tubi later this year, Faustin introduces a single dater while exploring the question, “why are you single?” The featured dater is joined by four potential suitors, each revealing their own dating histories. As contestants share their experiences, Faustin and a live audience assign “red flags” that prompt the dater to determine which contestant is worth the baggage.
“I can’t wait for the world to see what we’ve created in Brooklyn, with Why Are You Single?…because everyone deserves love but more importantly, they deserve to laugh,” Faustin expressed.
Faustin and Mizzoni have been refining the show’s format through live performances since 2023. The initial three episodes are set to be filmed at The Bell House in Brooklyn on May 21st and 22nd. Cassie Lambert Scalettar will serve as the showrunner, executive producer, and director for the first season, while All Things Comedy’s Co-CEOs, Billy Rosenberg and Drew Eller, will also executive produce, along with Head of Finance and Production Drew Agan and ATC’s Chance Nichols and Lauren Midler overseeing production.
Why Are You Single? marks the second unscripted series produced by All Things Comedy, following the filming of The Bad Game Show, which features Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino from the Bad Friends podcast.
Eller shared his enthusiasm, stating, “What Marie and Dave have created is reminiscent of the cable comedy we grew up on, with the added benefit of capturing the humor of a truly unscripted show and a live audience experience. We couldn’t be more excited to bring this to audiences with our partners at Tubi, and to help expand the reach of Why Are You Single?!”
Faustin, known for her work in The New York Times, GQ, and HBO’s The Damn Michael Che, co-hosts the weekly podcast Mess and has appeared in Survival of The Thickest, Babes, and Search Party. She is represented by OPE Partners, UTA, and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein + Selz.
Mizzoni’s achievements include co-creating and executive producing Gayme Show on Roku/Quibi, writing for and starring in Comedy Central’s Fixed, and producing RuPaul’s Drag Race for multiple seasons. He has been recognized as a Comic to Watch at Just for Laughs and the New York Comedy Festival.
Scalettar has worked on Women’s Sports Now on ESPN, as well as The Hype, Dating Around, and The Bachelor.
All Things Comedy, founded by comedians Bill Burr and Al Madrigal, recently produced the BriTANicK comedy Pizza Movie, which launched at #1 on Hulu and Disney+. Upcoming projects include the film Never Change! and several stand-up specials featuring various comedians. The organization also manages a podcast network that includes popular shows such as Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast and TigerBelly.
