Toronto’s 9 Light Entertainment Launches New Unscripted Reality Series ‘Lights, Camera… Kitchen!’
Canadian Production House Expands into Unscripted Programming with New Series
Toronto-based production company 9 Light Entertainment has officially launched an unscripted division, debuting its first title, Lights, Camera… Kitchen!
Previously focused on scripted television and film, 9 Light’s founder, Pasha Patriki, has turned the company’s attention to reality television with this four-part series. Lights, Camera… Kitchen! is set to premiere on Bell Fibe’s TV1, a community network owned by Bell Canada, on May 28.
The series provides an inside look at the world of catering within the film and television industry, featuring the entrepreneurial duo Nataliya and Leeza. The pair, one Russian and the other Ukrainian, have transformed their shared culinary passion into a thriving multi-generational catering business.
Joining them in the series are Nataliya’s mother Irina, Leeza’s mother Sasha, and Nataliya’s daughter Kristina. Together, they navigate the challenges of delivering meals to cast and crew during demanding shoots, often in remote locations and under harsh North Ontario winters. The show captures not only the logistical hurdles but also the family dynamics, menu planning, and culinary mishaps that unfold against tight production deadlines.
The format of Lights, Camera… Kitchen! has been developed with an eye towards international sales, though a distributor has yet to be secured.
“With the launch of our unscripted division, we wanted our first project to feel deeply human,” Patriki said. “Lights, Camera… Kitchen! is a series built around real personalities, real pressure, and the beautiful chaos that happens behind the scenes of filmmaking.”
Patriki, a seasoned cinematographer known for his work on action feature Black Water, which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren, founded 9 Light Entertainment in 2015. The company has collaborated with Raven Banner Entertainment to produce genre films through their joint venture, Hangar 18 Media. Recently, Hangar 18 launched a sub-brand called Berserkergang, a genre lab co-created with rock guitarist Slash, debuting with Deathstalker, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival last year.
Other recent projects from 9 Light include Frankie Freako, You Gotta Believe, and the UK-Canadian co-production Owen, which is currently in post-production.
