Timothée Chalamet Joins Rarified Company with Third Oscar Nomination
Timothée Chalamet has made headlines after receiving his third Best Actor nomination for the Academy Awards. The announcement was made on January 22, when he was nominated for his performance in Marty Supreme.
At 30 years old, Chalamet now stands as the youngest actor since Marlon Brando to garner three Best Actor nominations. Brando, who passed away in 2004, achieved this milestone by the time he was 30, having received nominations for A Streetcar Named Desire, Viva Zapata!, and Julius Caesar. He won his first Oscar for On the Waterfront in 1955.
Chalamet’s journey through the Oscars has been notable. He was also the only nominee in this year’s Best Actor category who had received a nomination the previous year, in 2025, for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

In 2018, Chalamet received his first Oscar nomination for his role in Call Me by Your Name, while Gary Oldman won for Darkest Hour that year. This year, he is nominated alongside prominent actors including Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, and Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent.
Moreover, Chalamet is making waves as a double nominee this year, also being recognized as a producer for Marty Supreme, which has been nominated for Best Picture. The film has amassed a total of nine nominations, while Sinners leads the ceremony with a record-setting 16 nominations, surpassing previous records held by Titanic, La La Land, and All About Eve, each with 14 nominations.

Chalamet also secured wins for his role in Marty Supreme at both the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month. He is currently nominated at the 2026 Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
In his acceptance speech at the 2025 SAG Awards, he expressed his aspiration to "be one of the greats" and cited Brando as one of his inspirations.
Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars live on March 15, airing at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming on Hulu.
