High School Sports Summary: Thursday’s Baseball and Softball Results
In a series of compelling high school baseball and softball matches on Thursday, teams from the City Section showcased their talent and competitive spirit.
Baseball Highlights:
Angelou dominated Manual Arts with a convincing 14-0 victory. Birmingham edged out Cleveland in a tight match, finishing 1-0. CALS Early College secured a strong win over Esperanza College Prep, finishing 12-2. Chatsworth triumphed over Taft with a score of 13-3.
Other notable results included Collins Family’s 21-1 victory against Central City Value, and Diego Rivera, who also took advantage of their matchup, defeating West Adams 21-0. Franklin narrowly defeated Hacienda Heights Wilson, with an 8-7 scoreline. Fremont showcased their strength with a 12-1 win over Dorsey, while Garfield won a closely contested game against South Gate, finishing 7-6.
Granada Hills edged out El Camino Real, 6-5. Lakeview Charter and Harbor Teacher both achieved dominant wins, with scores of 18-4 against Valley Oaks CES and 17-3 against King/Drew, respectively. Softball Highlights:
In the softball arena, Camino Nuevo secured a striking victory over Alliance Ouchi, winning 19-1. Carson demonstrated their prowess with a resounding 20-0 win against Rancho Dominguez, while Dorsey overwhelmed King/Drew. Hollywood triumphed over Roybal with a score of 19-4.
Legacy secured a dominating 13-0 win against LA Roosevelt. The standout performance of the day came from Mendez, who defeated RFK Community 26-4. Northridge Academy claimed victory over VAAS, finishing 12-1. The Port of Los Angeles rolled over Harbor Teacher, 21-1, and San Pedro shut out Narbonne with a score of 14-0.
Additional highlights included Triumph Charter’s 10-7 win over Community Charter, Vaughn’s 21-12 victory against Grant, and Wilmington Banning’s 22-0 domination over Gardena.
