Three Exciting Passing Tournaments to Catch This Saturday
Koa Malau’ulu Prepares for Third Season as St. John Bosco’s Quarterback
As preparations intensify for the upcoming football season, Koa Malau’ulu is set to embark on his third year leading the offense at St. John Bosco High School. The junior quarterback will showcase his skills at an eight-team seven-on-seven passing tournament hosted by the school this Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
The tournament is one of three significant events occurring this weekend, with similar competitions taking place at Dana Hills and Long Beach Millikan. The 2026 Brave 8 Invitational Passing Tournament will welcome some of the top high school programs from Southern California to the St. John Bosco campus.
While Malau’ulu will miss the support of All-American receiver Madden Williams, who has transitioned to Texas A&M, he steps onto the field with promising talent. DJ Tubbs, a receiver from the class of 2028, demonstrated last season that he is ready to assume a leading role.
In addition to St. John Bosco, the competition features Corona Centennial, where Cathedral transfer Jaden Jefferson is set to make his debut as quarterback.
Dana Hills will conduct a 16-team tournament, including schools like Oxnard Pacifica, Laguna Beach, and Crean Lutheran, all of which have returning quarterbacks who are anticipated to make an impact. Pool-play games at Dana Hills will kick off at 8 a.m., while matches at Long Beach Millikan are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
This weekend’s events highlight the vibrant atmosphere surrounding high school sports and the anticipation of the upcoming season.
