High School Boys Volleyball Playoffs: Saturday Results
The Southern Section playoffs showcased thrilling semifinals in various divisions on Saturday, marking a significant step toward the finals.
In Division 1, Mira Costa edged out Huntington Beach with a close score of 3-2, while Loyola triumphed over Redondo Union, also 3-2.
Division 2 saw Orange Lutheran defeat St. Margaret’s 3-1, and Edison secured a narrow victory against Camarillo, finishing 3-2.
Division 3 featured St. John Bosco narrowly succeeding over Palos Verdes 3-2, while Windward comfortably beat Foothill 3-1.
In Division 4, Royal won against Village Christian 3-1, and Sunny Hills faced a tough match but ultimately prevailed over Crossroads 3-2.
Division 5 results included Bishop Diego overcoming El Dorado 3-1, and St. Anthony winning 3-2 against Bellflower.
Division 6 had Culver City defeating Temecula Valley 3-1, while Garden Grove edged out Pasadena Poly with a score of 3-2.
Division 7 featured Foothill Tech securing a clear victory over Rialto, winning 3-0, and Oakwood winning a closely contested match against Tustin 3-2.
Division 8 saw Temescal Canyon triumph over CAMS 3-2, and West Valley defeating Palmdale Aerospace Academy 3-1.
In Division 9, Tarbut V’Torah won against YULA with a score of 3-1, while Vasquez continued their success by defeating Downey Calvary Chapel 3-2.
The finals across all divisions are scheduled for May 15-16, with locations and times yet to be announced.
City Section Quarterfinals Schedule
As the playoffs advance, the City Section quarterfinals are set for Monday, featuring various exciting match-ups. All matches will begin at 7 p.m. unless noted otherwise.
In Division III, notable games include #9 Central City Value facing #1 New West Charter and #13 Birmingham going up against #5 University Prep Value.
Division IV will have #17 Canoga Park challenging #8 Annenberg and #12 Mendez competing against #4 Math & Science College Prep at 4 p.m.
Division V features #9 Alliance Levine visiting #1 WISH Academy, while #21 LAAAE takes on #13 Rancho Dominguez.
On Tuesday, semifinals in the Open Division and Division I will take place, with teams including #4 Venice against #1 Granada Hills and #3 Chatsworth matched up with #2 Palisades.
Wednesday will see semifinals in Division II, with #4 Marquez facing #1 LA Hamilton and #7 Panorama against #6 Narbonne.
The semifinals for Divisions III-V are scheduled for May 13, with finals across all divisions on May 16, locations and times still to be determined.
