Thieves Break Into Truck at Chino Intersection After Cutting Trailer Lock
Chino Police Capture Suspects in Bold Theft of Computer Equipment
In a swift operation, Chino authorities arrested two suspects involved in a brazen daylight theft after the incident was captured on traffic surveillance cameras. The break-in occurred on February 20 at 4:48 p.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and Chino Hills Parkway.
The Chino Police Department released footage of the incident on social media, showing a commercial truck halted at the intersection as a car and a white van maneuvered into position—one in front of the truck and the other behind. The suspects exited their vehicles, approached the truck’s trailer, and cut its lock to steal approximately $7,000 worth of computer equipment.
Witnesses reported that one suspect fled on foot while the other drove away in the white van. Following the driver’s report of the theft, officers utilized the department’s Real-Time Crime Center. By analyzing surveillance footage, they tracked the white van as it entered the 60 Freeway.
Police successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested two suspects—a man from Los Angeles and another from Cudahy. Following the arrest, authorities searched the van, uncovering burglary tools and the stolen property.
“This case highlights the importance of quick reporting and coordinated response in disrupting organized theft,” the Chino Police Department noted in their Facebook post. They encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity promptly.
Sgt. Shauna Hill emphasized that the Real-Time Crime Center employs a network of traffic and security cameras throughout the city, allowing analysts to monitor incidents and relay information to officers in real-time.
