The Pitt Welcomes Rusty Schwimmer, Jayne Taini, and Annabelle Toomey to Season 2 Cast
HBO Max’s "The Pitt" Adds New Talent for Season Two
HBO Max’s acclaimed medical drama, The Pitt, is welcoming a trio of notable actors as recurring guest stars for its upcoming second season. Rusty Schwimmer, known for her roles in The Righteous Gemstones and The Last Frontier, will portray Monica Peters, a hospital clerk. Jayne Taini, recognized from Ray Donovan and Unbelievable, takes on the role of Evelyn Bostick, an Emergency Department patient with Alzheimer’s. Annabelle Toomey, who has appeared in The Bear and Chicago P.D., will play Kylie Conners, another patient in the emergency department.
Created by R. Scott Gemmill and produced by John Wells, The Pitt vividly portrays the urgent challenges faced by frontline healthcare professionals through the lens of a fictional emergency department at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. The series highlights the intense medical cases and personal crises that physicians and nurses confront while dealing with an overwhelming number of patients and limited resources.
The second season is set to unfold ten months after the events of the first season finale, taking place over the Fourth of July weekend. The Noah Wyle-led series is set to premiere its second season on January 8 at 9 p.m. ET, with new episodes released weekly, culminating in a season finale on April 16.
Alongside Wyle, the cast includes Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hatosy, Taylor Dearden, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez, and Gerran Howell. Notable additions for Season 2 include Sepideh Moafi as a series regular, with Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson, Lawrence Robinson, Brittany Allen, Bonita Friedericy, Taylor Handley, and Jeff Kober appearing in recurring roles.
The Pitt has garnered significant acclaim, winning five Emmy Awards from thirteen nominations. Honors included Outstanding Lead Actor for Wyle, Outstanding Supporting Actress for LaNasa, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Hatosy, along with the award for Outstanding Drama Series. Recently, Wyle received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Drama Series, and the show was also nominated for Best TV Drama.
The series is produced by John Wells Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, under an overall deal. R. Scott Gemmill is both the creator and an executive producer, alongside Wells, Wyle, Erin Jontow, Simran Baidwan, Joe Sachs, and Michael Hissrich.
