The Night Agent Will Conclude with Season 4 on Netflix
Peter Sutherland is set to embark on his final mission in the upcoming fourth season of The Night Agent, produced by Netflix and which began production today in Los Angeles. This season has been confirmed as the series’ last.
Speculation about the show’s potential conclusion has circulated in recent weeks. The first season of The Night Agent was a significant success, breaking into Netflix’s Most Popular English series list and maintaining a strong presence for three years. However, viewership declined in Seasons 2 and 3.
Sources indicate that Netflix data revealed ongoing interest among fans in following Peter’s (Gabriel Basso) journey as a Night Agent, prompting the series to secure a renewal for Season 4. Additionally, Season 3 received positive feedback from Netflix executives, some of whom have described it as the best season yet.
Ahead of the anticipated renewal, Sony Pictures Television, the studio behind the series, secured a $31.6 million California tax credit to move production from New York—where Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed—to Los Angeles. To qualify for this tax incentive, filming of the fourth season needed to commence by May.

With the decision solidified early, fans of The Night Agent can expect a fitting conclusion, as Season 4 has been crafted with the potential for a final installment in mind.
“Ever since the initial success of The Night Agent, I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey,” said Shawn Ryan, the creator and executive producer. “I’m so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me on The Night Agent and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season to our worldwide legion of fans. We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget.”
In Season 3, Peter Sutherland (Basso) is tasked with tracking down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after the assassination of his boss. This pursuit initiates a complex investigation into a dark money network, all while Peter evades hired assassins.
Season 3 was executive produced by Ryan along with Marney Hochman, MiddKid Productions, Seth Gordon, Julia Gunn, Exhibit A, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, Nicole Tossou (Project X), and David Beaubaire (Sunset Lane Media), among others.
