The latest episodes of Taylor Swift’s docuseries, The End of an Era, have shed light on the intense physical preparations behind her record-breaking Eras Tour. Now available on Disney+, the third episode features Swift discussing the challenges of performing for over three and a half hours each night.
"I think I run like eight miles in a show," she noted, indicating the demanding nature of her performances.
Before launching into the extensive 149-show tour, Swift expressed that her previous longest performance was approximately two hours and fifteen minutes. "I’ve never worked out this much in my life. It’s horrible," she remarked. "I really had to up my game in terms of physical training.”

Swift began her rigorous training six months before the tour’s opening in March 2023. "I was running on the treadmill every single day at the tempo of the songs that I was playing while singing them out loud," she explained, emphasizing that tracks from her 1989 and Reputation albums require particularly high cardio effort.
Throughout each concert, she performs around 45 songs while navigating an expansive stage layout and even taking flight for her song "Delicate."
"Anything’s hard when you’re scaling a stage that goes the entire length of an NFL stadium," she acknowledged.
In addition to the physical demands, Swift revealed the complexity of her numerous costume changes, which she executes in under two minutes.
During one performance, a mishap occurred as she exited the Evermore segment. "I trip over the hem of my dress. Bust my knee," she recalled. "Blood’s coming down my hand," she continued, detailing the injury. Despite the challenges, she emphasized, "I wasn’t late. Wasn’t late for the intro of that song."
Fans later noticed her injury, with some commenting, "Oh, her palm’s gone." In response, Swift humorously downplayed the situation, stating, "I was like, I am not acknowledging this. What? Nothing’s wrong. That’s always been like that."
The third and fourth episodes of The End of an Era premiered on December 19, with the final two episodes set to launch on December 23.
