Taskmaster Goes Global: Alex Horne Shares Insights on the New Polish Version
International Expansion of Taskmaster Continues with Polish Version
The popular comedy-entertainment format Taskmaster is making strides in its global rollout, with Polish broadcaster TVN announcing the greenlighting of a local version. This adaptation will be produced by Avalon and Constantin. This development follows the recent launches of several international Taskmaster series, with additional versions expected to debut through 2026.
At the heart of the format is the ‘Taskmaster’, supported by a loyal assistant, who challenges a panel of comedians with a range of unusual and entertaining tasks throughout each series.
Created by Alex Horne, who co-hosts the long-standing UK version alongside comedian Greg Davies, Horne expressed enthusiasm over the news of the Polish adaptation. “I think this has got a bit out of control, to be honest,” he stated. “But I am still thrilled that the people of Poland are finally going to see their top comedians casting dignity to one side as they strive to impress the Polish version of Greg Davies.”
The recent announcement is a testament to the international success of Taskmaster. Following the Polish news, TV4 in Sweden has approved two more seasons, collaborating with Avalon and Fremantle to produce the fourteenth and fifteenth installments of the show. Additionally, Warner Bros. Discovery in Norway has renewed its agreement, with Nordisk partnering to create new local episodes; notably, the Norwegian version won the local TV Academy Award (Gullruten) for Best Comedy Show in 2024.
Last month, adaptations debuted in Iceland and Estonia on Syn and TV3, respectively. Furthermore, a Dutch version of Taskmaster is set to launch on RTL later this year. With TVN’s involvement, the total number of countries producing their own versions of the series rises to fourteen.
Avalon, responsible for both the show’s distribution and production, expressed excitement about the collaboration. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with TVN and Constantin to bring Taskmaster to Poland,” said Paula Warwick, Head of Distribution at Avalon. “The strength of the format and its ability to deliver guaranteed comedy have driven its dedicated global following, and we can’t wait to bring it to Polish audiences. With more territories coming on board this year, its global expansion shows no signs of slowing.”
