Tamar Braxton Addresses Cheating Rumors In Recent Interview
Tamar Braxton has spoken out to dispel rumors about an alleged affair with Birdman, her sister Toni Braxton’s husband. During an appearance on the talk show Sherri, Braxton expressed disbelief over the speculation, calling it “preposterous.”
The conversation began after host Sherri Shepherd referenced a recent episode of The Braxtons, in which Tamar’s sister Towanda hinted at the rumors involving one of Toni’s former partners. Viewers speculated that Birdman, 56, was the subject of those accusations.
“What is this rumor? That is preposterous,” Tamar stated while addressing the topic on the show. She emphasized her friendship with Birdman, whose real name is Bryan Williams, clarifying their relationship’s platonic nature.
“I introduced Toni to her husband,” Tamar explained. “Bryan and I were friends first, like, real platonic friends. He was actually dating one of my friends a long time ago. When they broke up, Brian and I became really good friends because [he] and [Ronald Jay ‘Slim’ Williams] wanted to sign me to Cash Money Records. This was a long time ago.”
Tamar noted that as Toni went through her divorce from Keri Lewis in 2016, Birdman became serious about pursuing a relationship with her sister.
Birdman and Toni, 58, have been connected for years, dating from 2016 and becoming engaged in February 2018. Although their engagement was briefly called off, reconciliation rumors surfaced the following year.
In April 2025, Tamar provided context regarding Toni and Birdman’s relationship, revealing that she felt unsettled by the affair rumors. "That’s my brother. Now, he’s my brother-in-law,” she remarked during her interview.
In a follow-up detail, Tamar shared that they both attended a recent Verzuz battle together, stating that she stepped in for Toni, who was unable to attend.
Tamar concluded her interview by discussing the health of her relationship with her sisters, indicating that progress has been made. “We’re in a healthy space. I think that everyone has taken accountability for their part in what happened, publicly and privately. And I think now it’s time for healing, whatever that looks like.”
