Take a First Look at West Hollywood’s New Hotel: PUBLIC
Ian Schrager Announces New PUBLIC Hotel in West Hollywood for Spring 2026
Hotelier Ian Schrager has revealed plans to open a new location of his "luxury for all" hotel brand, PUBLIC, in West Hollywood, scheduled for spring 2026. This new hotel will occupy the former Standard Hotel space, marking an exciting development for the area.
Renowned for co-founding Studio 54 and pioneering the boutique hotel movement, Schrager was honored earlier this year with the SevenRooms Icon Award at The World’s 50 Best Hotels. The upcoming 137-room hotel will be situated on the iconic Sunset Strip and is designed in collaboration with British architect John Pawson.
This project represents Schrager’s third venture in Los Angeles and is the first expansion of the PUBLIC brand on the West Coast. The property plans to feature a pool, a social lobby, and three distinct dining and entertainment options. Additionally, a landscaped rooftop terrace spanning 16,000 square feet will offer panoramic views of Los Angeles.
PUBLIC West Hollywood aims to replicate the successful concept of its New York counterpart, which opened in the Lower East Side. Schrager’s philosophy of “luxury for all” focuses on providing quality experiences at accessible pricing, prioritizing design, service, and vibrant social environments.
Catering to both visitors and locals, PUBLIC hotels are designed to foster a sense of community and culture. Reservations for the West Hollywood property are anticipated to open in January 2026.
