Stars Come Together to Serve Thanksgiving Meals for Critical Patients in Los Angeles with Project Angel Food
Thanksgiving proved to be a poignant occasion for many, especially those facing critical health challenges. In a heartwarming effort, several stars came together to make a difference this holiday season.
Notable figures such as Yvette Nicole Brown, Loni Love, Amanda Kloots, and Will Sasso joined forces with Project Angel Food to prepare and distribute Thanksgiving meals to those in need. This initiative resulted in over 3,000 traditional turkey dinners being lovingly packed and served to the less fortunate.
Project Angel Food is a nonprofit organization that delivers approximately 1.5 million meals annually to vulnerable populations across Los Angeles. This year, the charity not only provided Thanksgiving meals but also additional food, as it transitions from its temporary kitchen in Lincoln Heights to a new location at The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Campus. The new facility is expected to triple its meal production capacity.
Joining the effort were other notable personalities, including Amy Yasbeck from Wings, Michael Hitchcock from The Lowdown, influencer and pop star Ava Maybee, Brooke Burns from Baywatch, and her husband Gavin O’Connor, director of The Accountant. Also participating were ABC7 presenter Karl Schmid, stylist Lawrence Zarian, radio presenter Lisa Foxx, and actors Mary-Margaret Humes, Nancy Lenehan, and Rebecca Metz.
Yvette Nicole Brown remarked, “It’s a difficult time for everybody right now. And everyone needs to show up and be one of the helpers like Mr. Rogers asked us to be.” Loni Love emphasized the spirit of the season, saying, “It’s about family, it’s about giving back.”
Richard Ayoub, CEO of Project Angel Food, expressed his gratitude during the event: “More than anything, I feel gratitude — for the nearly 6,000 people who volunteered with us this year, for those by our side this morning, and for the staff and donors who make this work possible. Project Angel Food exists to lift up our most weary neighbors, and on a day devoted to giving thanks we are especially grateful for all who share their time and resources so we can keep delivering medically tailored meals with love, dignity and compassion.”
