Stacey Snider Starts New Role as Chief Creative Officer at FilmNation Entertainment
FilmNation Entertainment Appoints Stacey Snider as Chief Creative Officer
FilmNation Entertainment has announced the hiring of Stacey Snider as its new Chief Creative Officer, a pivotal role that comes as the studio seeks to expand its film and television endeavors. Snider, who previously held leadership positions at major studios including 20th Century Fox, DreamWorks, and Universal Pictures, is expected to leverage her extensive industry experience and relationships to drive this growth.
Snider will officially begin her role on January 5 and will immediately oversee FilmNation’s film and television slates. Upcoming projects include the Tom Hooper-directed Photograph 51 and the Greg Kwedar-directed Possum Song.
The appointment signals FilmNation’s commitment to increasing its output of quality content. Recently, the studio produced Anora, directed by Sean Baker, which won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Mikey Madison. Another notable project, Conclave, directed by Edward Berger, received eight Oscar nominations, with Peter Straughan winning for Best Adapted Screenplay. Additionally, Olivia Wilde’s The Invite is set to have its world premiere at next month’s Sundance Film Festival, featuring a star-studded cast including Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton.
Prior to joining FilmNation, Snider spent four years collaborating with Elisabeth Murdoch and Jane Featherstone to build the financier-producer company Sister. Her background is marked by not only strong industry connections but also a thorough understanding of storytelling, as she is known for her keen insight into scripts and literature.
Under the leadership of CEO Glen Basner, FilmNation has established a robust infrastructure and distinct taste that have positioned it as a key player in the independent film space. Despite recent contractions in Hollywood, FilmNation has historically increased its investment in content during challenging times, suggesting a positive trajectory for future projects, particularly in television.
Snider has a rich history of mentoring emerging industry talent and has been instrumental in championing films like Gladiator, The Fast and the Furious, Logan, The Martian, and Hidden Figures. Basner and Snider share a historical connection; he began his career at Good Machine, where Snider played a crucial role in the company’s acquisition by Universal.
"Stacey brings next level creativity, leadership, and experience to our team, further fueling our ambitious plans despite market climate. Her unparalleled track record speaks for itself. Hell yeah! We are going to have some fun!" Basner stated.
Snider expressed her enthusiasm, commending Basner as a "steadfast champion of independent filmmaking." She added, "His commitment to creative risk-taking and thoughtfully financed, globally minded cinema has helped sustain and expand the space for independent voices on the world stage. I’m excited for the opportunity to join the extraordinary FilmNation team and to direct my energies and experience towards a mission that speaks to me so personally."
In her new capacity, Snider will report directly to Basner and will be part of the company’s C-Suite and strategic leadership group.
