Stacey Sher Signs Exciting New Deal with MGM Television
Stacey Sher, a two-time Oscar-nominated producer known for acclaimed films such as Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Erin Brockovich, has entered into a first-look deal with MGM Television. This agreement allows Sher to develop and produce television series through her production company, Shiny Penny Productions.
Sher’s impressive portfolio has yielded nearly $2.7 billion in global box office revenue. Beyond the previously mentioned titles, her work includes Out of Sight, Contagion, Garden State, Reality Bites, Get Shorty, Man on the Moon, Gattaca, and Respect. In television, she has executive produced the Emmy-nominated limited series Mrs. America, along with shows such as Into the Badlands, Sweet/Vicious, Reno 911, and Skylanders Academy.

Katie Aquino serves as Creative Executive for Film and Television at Shiny Penny Productions. Recently, Aquino was an associate producer on Heretic and the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Verity. She will also executive produce the reimagining of Baby Boom by Amazon MGM Studios. A graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Aquino began her career at Creative Artists Agency before joining Shiny Penny in 2021.
Alongside her film and television achievements, Sher was an executive producer on the Academy Award–winning documentary short Period. End of Sentence., which led to the formation of The Pad Project, a nonprofit focused on menstrual equity globally. She currently sits on the board of directors for the organization.
Sher has been recognized by the ACLU for her commitment to socially impactful storytelling. She has received the Humanitas Prize for Freedom Writers and the Christopher Award for World Trade Center. In 2024, she will be honored with the Premio Raimondo Rezzonico at the Locarno Film Festival, acknowledging her contributions to international film production.
Additionally, Sher is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, BAFTA, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and the Producers Guild of America.
