Sophie Turner Says Goodbye to Blonde and Shows Off Her Bold New Dark Hair Color
Sophie Turner Takes on Dark Transformation for New Role as Lara Croft in ‘Tomb Raider’
Sophie Turner has unveiled her new dark brown hair as she prepares for her role in the upcoming Amazon Prime series Tomb Raider, a project developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, acclaimed star of Fleabag. This marks a significant shift from her trademark dirty blonde look, aligning with the character of archaeologist Lara Croft, originally adapted from the popular video game franchise.
Turner’s transformation was showcased in a photo she referred to as a "wardrobe test." In the image, she dons a ponytail, black shorts, a green tank top, and distinctive red sunglasses, complemented by a backpack and dual gun holsters.
"I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara," Turner stated. "She has always felt for me very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!"
Notably, Turner is not the first actress to embody Lara Croft on screen. The character was previously portrayed by Angelina Jolie in the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, which achieved remarkable success with a global box office of $274.7 million. Alicia Vikander followed suit in a 2018 reboot. Acknowledging the challenge ahead, Turner remarked that the new cast has "massive shoes to fill."
"With Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands," she added.
Waller-Bridge expressed her excitement about the project, calling it "beyond my wildest dreams." She emphasized that everyone involved shares a profound passion for Lara Croft, echoing her bold and adventurous spirit.
The anticipation surrounding this reinterpretation of Tomb Raider continues to grow as fans await more details about the series.
