Sony Pictures Television is Creating a New Miranda Lambert Series for Hulu with Judalina Neira as Showrunner
Sony Pictures Television to Develop Miranda Lambert-Inspired Series for Hulu
Sony Pictures Television is venturing into new territory with a currently untitled project for Hulu, inspired by the music of country superstar Miranda Lambert. Judalina Neira will take the helm as showrunner, writer, and executive producer under her overall deal with Sony Pictures Television.
Described as “Big Little Lies” with a country twist, the series portrays a turbulent female friendship. One woman aids her friend in escaping an abusive marriage, only to find that their fresh start in a small Texas town is fraught with lingering threats from their past. As they navigate their new home, they will uncover secrets that rival their own.
Alongside Lambert, Marion Kraft’s Shopkeeper Management will serve as an executive producer for the series, representing the artist.
Lambert, a three-time Grammy winner, is set to compete at the 68th Grammy Awards in February, boasting four nominations. She is recognized for Best Contemporary Country Album for Postcards from Texas, along with nominations for Best Country Song (as a writer) for “A Song to Sing” and dual nominations for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for both “A Song to Sing” (with Chris Stapleton) and “Trailblazer” (with Reba McEntire & Lainey Wilson).
Her latest solo album, Postcards from Texas, marks her 10th consecutive Top 10 entry on the Top Country Albums chart. Lambert holds the record as the most-awarded artist in the Academy of Country Music Awards history, with 14 wins at the Country Music Association Awards and recognition as a TIME100 honoree. To date, she has seven No. 1 solo albums on the country chart and several No. 1 singles, further establishing her musical versatility through collaborations with artists like Leon Bridges and Sheryl Crow.
Neira, who is also developing a reimagining of Bewitched for Fox, brings a wealth of experience to the table. She recently served as an executive producer for Seasons 4 and 5 of The Boys and The Horror of Dolores Roach, both for Prime Video. Her previous projects include The Morning Show and Gen V. In 2023, she received her first Emmy nomination for her role as a supervising producer on Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & The Six. Neira’s credentials are bolstered by her participation in the 2023 WGA Showrunner Training Program and her status as co-founder of La Lista, a networking group for Latina television writers.
