Snoop Dogg made a striking entrance at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN, donning an all-red outfit, including a long coat with furry trim over a double-breasted suit, as he performed a series of his classic hits.
The show kicked off with covers of Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” and “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” along with a unique rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” performed by EJAE, AUDREY NUNA, and REI AMI, members of the animated girl group from Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunters.
Snoop then delivered more of his signature style with “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Who Am I? (What’s My Name?),” before country artist Lainey Wilson joined him for a lively performance of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.”
The celebration concluded with a soulful cover of Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas,” as Snoop was joined by renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son, Matteo Bocelli.
Earlier in the day, Kelly Clarkson set the festive mood with a special video for “Underneath the Tree,” her contemporary holiday classic released in 2013.
Netflix had announced the star-studded special earlier that month. Snoop Dogg expressed excitement, saying, “NFL, Netflix and your uncle Snoop on Christmas Day? We’re servin’ up music, love and good vibes for the whole world to enjoy. That’s the kind of holiday magic Santa can’t fit in a bag.” To mark the occasion, the streaming service shared a festive teaser narrated by funk pioneer George Clinton.
This year’s halftime show followed last year’s performance by Beyoncé, who highlighted Netflix’s inaugural Christmas Day event with a live performance that included tracks from her Grammy-winning LP, Cowboy Carter.
The Christmas Day doubleheader began with the Dallas Cowboys facing off against the Washington Commanders, ending with a 30-23 victory for the Cowboys, while the Vikings triumphed over the Lions with a score of 23-10.
