DC Studios has yet to comment on the casting of Charles Dance in the upcoming film.
While not officially confirmed, reports suggest that Dance will portray Charles Dent, the father of Gotham’s district attorney Harvey Dent, a role that will be filled by Sebastian Stan. Scarlett Johansson is also set to join the cast as Dent’s wife.
Production for the DC Studios film is scheduled to commence in the spring, with a theatrical release planned for October 1, 2027. The project is being produced by DC co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, along with Dylan Clark.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman was a significant blockbuster for Warner Bros, marking a successful return to theatres post-COVID. The film, starring Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz, grossed $369.3 million at the domestic box office and a total of $772 million worldwide.
The role of Charles Dent seems particularly suited for Dance, who gained prominence for his portrayal of Tywin Lannister in HBO’s acclaimed series Game of Thrones. Known for being one of the most formidable and treacherous figures in Westeros, Dance is expected to bring a similar dynamic to Gotham City.
Recently, Dance starred as Dr. Frankenstein’s father in Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-nominated Frankenstein. He has also made an appearance in the Peacock series Day of the Jackal.
Dance is represented by Tavistock Wood Management.
