Smash-and-Grab Incidents Impact Two Sherman Oaks Businesses
Two Smash-and-Grab Robberies Rock Sherman Oaks Retailers
LOS ANGELES – Two Sherman Oaks businesses are reeling after a series of targeted smash-and-grab robberies. Organized criminal crews have struck both a local toy store and a major department store, raising concerns among local law enforcement.
Authorities report that these crews are highly organized, using power tools to execute rapid heists. The Toy Mandala, a local establishment specializing in elite trading cards since 1998, was hit twice within one week. In the first incident, thieves broke in on Tuesday morning, shattering display cases and making off with tens of thousands of dollars in high-value Pokémon cards. Just two days later, the same store was targeted again, with the burglars breaching the doors to steal a business safe.
In a separate incident, a Macy’s located in the nearby Westfield shopping center was also targeted around 7 p.m. last night. Police say two suspects used tools to smash jewelry cases, prompting shoppers to mistake the noise for gunfire. The suspects fled in a Lexus with an undisclosed amount of stolen jewelry.
Despite these bold strikes, no arrests have been made, and authorities believe the incidents may have been carried out by different crews. Investigators are closely monitoring the recent uptick in smash-and-grab activities in the area as they continue their search for the suspects involved in both robberies.
