SPOILERS: This article contains details about the High Potential, Season 2 episode “Under the Rug.”
Kaitlin Olson’s portrayal of Morgan Guillory continues to captivate audiences this week on High Potential. Whether viewers love or hate her character, it’s clear she’s making a significant impact in the series.
Showrunner, Harthan, expressed a commitment to crafting engaging characters and stories that can resurface unexpectedly. “I and this writing staff really love to put characters and stories like this on the board that have the promise of popping back up in a meaningful way when you least expect it,” he stated. He added that a recent plot point serves as a tease, hinting at Morgan’s complicated feelings regarding a potential returning character and what that might mean for her.
Additionally, Harthan remarked on the unpredictability of the remaining episodes in the season, stating, “I just think that anything can happen, and a lot of the things that we’re talking about now is mapping out the last few episodes of the season. We have all these different things that are still available to us that we can weave back in.”
In this week’s episode, Morgan finds herself embroiled in a LAPD case linked to an FBI investigation following the death of an agent during a sting operation. The plot thickens when it’s revealed that the perpetrator is connected to the agency, a discovery that could jeopardize her relationships with federal authorities.
“I think she’s gonna find by the end of this season that she’s on a bunch of different lists, and I don’t think the feds are gonna be huge fans of Morgan Guillory,” Harthan explained. He cautioned that further developments might escalate tensions, stating, “There are a lot of things that are threatening her in the back half.”
As the season progresses, new episodes will air Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC. Harthan noted that the latter part of the season will delve deeper into the show’s supporting characters. “We really have some great stuff coming with Judy Reyes’ character Soto,” he mentioned. Harthan also highlighted an upcoming episode focused on Deniz Akdeniz’s character, along with revealing more of the backstory for Javicia Leslie’s character, Daphne.
