Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment Expands to New York, Marks 20 Years in Business
In a significant move to celebrate its 20th anniversary, 21 Laps Entertainment, led by Shawn Levy, is expanding its footprint with the opening of a new office in New York City and the addition of two key executives. Bryan Oh has been appointed as Executive Vice President, while Sophie Levy joins as a Creative Executive.
“Bryan and Sophie both bring a level of taste and passion that will mesh seamlessly with our incredible roster of 21 Laps executives,” Levy remarked. “Collectively, this team of hardworking, kind, and story-obsessed creative execs stand poised and hungry for the movies and shows we intend to make as we kick off our 20th anniversary year.”
Bryan Oh transitions to 21 Laps from Paramount Pictures, where he held the role of Senior Vice President of Production. At Paramount, he oversaw the successful release of Bob Marley: One Love, which set box office records, along with the recent horror film Primate. Before joining Paramount, Oh was Head of Development at Allison Shearmur Productions, contributing to Disney’s The One and Only Ivan. He began his career at UTA and is currently producing an untitled K-pop feature for Paramount Pictures, expected to be released in 2027.
“Bryan’s extensive background as both a studio exec and a producer gives him a 360-degree sense of the business,” noted Dan Levine, Partner at 21 Laps. “We also love that Bryan worked for, and trained under, the late Alli Shearmur, a producer of impeccable taste who impacted Shawn’s and my careers, and whose early support of Bryan speaks volumes about his intelligence and pedigree.”
Sophie Levy, the daughter of Shawn Levy, will focus on scripted development in the new New York office. A Barnard College graduate, she previously worked as a Creative Executive at Closer Media, where she developed projects like The History of Sound, Ezra, and In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon.
“Since my move to New York a few years ago, I’ve been looking forward to 21 Laps planting a flag in this creatively rich and vibrant city too,” Shawn Levy stated. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome these accomplished new team members and for 21 Laps’ continued growth as a home and empowering outlet for storytellers.”
21 Laps is widely recognized for producing Netflix’s blockbuster series Stranger Things, which recently concluded its fifth and final season. The company is also in post-production for Star Wars: Starfighter, and is currently working on a high school hockey drama series starring Michelle Monaghan, along with the feature comedy One Attempt Remaining, featuring Jennifer Garner, both for Netflix.
