This week’s new music releases showcase a diverse array from pop favorites to the resurgence of a folky breakout star, alongside a poignant political message from a rock legend. The question remains: which new release resonates most with listeners?
Kicking off the lineup is Noah Kahan with “The Great Divide,” the title track from his forthcoming fourth studio album, set to debut on April 24 through Mercury Records. A music video for the song will premiere during a commercial break at this Sunday’s Grammy Awards.
Next is “Debris” from Labrinth, featured on the British singer/songwriter’s newly released fourth album, Cosmic Opera ACT I. This haunting track serves as an initial glimpse into this orchestral project from Columbia Records.
Also debuting is “Starlight,” the first single from Cannons’ anticipated fifth album, Everything Glows, which is set to be released on March 27 by Columbia. Frontwoman Michelle Joy expressed that “Everything Glows is the most vulnerable album we’ve made.” She noted that the album arose from a period of reflection, both as a band and as individuals.
In a surprise move, Melanie Martinez has returned with “POSSESSION.” The accompanying press release cryptically suggests, “Welcome to Melanie Martinez’s new world order – Cry Baby is dead.”
Finally, Bruce Springsteen addresses the unrest in Minnesota in his new song “Streets of Minneapolis.” A notable lyric highlights the ongoing tensions: “King Trump’s private army from the DHS / Guns belted to their coats / Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law / Or so their story goes.”
Listeners can weigh in on their favorite among these five new releases through a poll featured in Billboard.
