The lyrics of “We Don’t Talk” suggest a longing for connection amid unresolved issues. She reflects, “Don’t know when it happened / Not even sure what it was about / ‘Cause we come from the same home, same blood.”
Hilary continues with a poignant reflection, “People ask me how you’re doing / I wanna say amazing, but the truth is that I don’t know / What I always end up saying is how … We don’t talk, we don’t talk about anything anymore.”
The second verse hints at possible jealousy, with the line, “And if it’s ’cause you’re jealous / God knows I would sell it all, then break you off the bigger half.” Hilary expresses a desire to resolve their differences, indicating a willingness to engage in open dialogue about their past and present.

Despite the song’s implications, Hilary has not confirmed whether it directly addresses her sister. Public appearances together have been absent since 2019. Fans have taken to social media to express concern and hope for reconciliation between the siblings. One user commented, “Why doesn’t she simply hash it out with Haylie tho? So sad,” while another mused, “Hopefully they can find a way to patch things up, because once a bridge has burned, it can’t be rebuilt.”
In a recent interview, Hilary discussed her passion for music and her connections with fans. “I have this crazy connection with fans that I’ve known since I was 9, 10 years old, and I just want to connect with them again,” she shared. She reflected on shared experiences, such as “complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces,” noting her readiness to explore these themes musically.
On January 20, Hilary celebrated her return to the stage with a heartfelt social media post. “18 years later, and I still can’t quite make sense of it all,” she wrote, acknowledging the overwhelming support she received. “Thank you for walking with me all these years, for celebrating what was while embracing what’s becoming.”
