Sean Penn Earns His First BAFTA Award for His Role in ‘One Battle After Another’
Sean Penn Wins First BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor
Sean Penn has achieved a significant milestone in his illustrious career by winning his first BAFTA Award. The American actor was recognized as Best Supporting Actor at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards for his role as Steven J. Lockjaw in the film One Battle After Another.
Although Penn was not present in London to receive the accolade, the award marks a noteworthy triumph for the actor, who has previously been nominated three times without a win. He was nominated in 2003 for his performances in Mystic River and 21 Grams, and again in 2008 for his work in Milk.
One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, garnered a total of 14 BAFTA nominations, positioning it as a strong contender for multiple awards during the ceremony.
The BAFTA Film Awards, hosted by Alan Cumming, aired on BBC1 in the UK at 7 p.m. local time, and on E! at 8 p.m. ET in the United States.
