NEARLY 18 MONTHS AFTER SEPARATION, SAM ASGHARI SPEAKS ABOUT HIS DIVORCE FROM BRITNEY SPEARS
Sam Asghari, the latest cover star of Playgirl, has expressed his ongoing respect for his ex-wife, Britney Spears, following their recent divorce. The couple’s marriage lasted 14 months before their separation in August 2023, and the divorce was finalized in May 2024.
In a candid interview, the 31-year-old actor shared his sentiments about their past relationship. Referring to an Iranian proverb, he noted the importance of loyalty to someone with whom you have shared a bond. “And whatever follows is irrelevant,” he added, emphasizing his commitment to respecting their shared history.
This warm reflection contrasts with the couple’s public narratives in recent years. Asghari and Spears were initially linked after meeting on the set of Spears’ "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. They became engaged in September 2021 and married the following June.
Asghari spoke fondly of their time together, stating, “The best thing you can do is celebrate the past, appreciate the past, and not dwell on the fact that it’s over."
Despite his recent relationship with Brooke Irvine, Asghari continues to support Spears from a distance. Following her statement in August 2025, where she described their marriage as feeling like "a fake distraction," Asghari reaffirmed his feelings, saying, “Our marriage was very real to me."
In another interview, Asghari discussed the impact of being in a high-profile relationship on his career. He acknowledged that while it drew significant attention, it also compelled him to "work harder to prove myself." He concluded with wishes of happiness for Spears, highlighting that their time together will always hold significance for him.
