Sabrina Carpenter made a striking appearance at the 2026 Met Gala, donning a custom Dior ensemble designed by Jonathan Anderson, crafted from an unconventional material: camera film.
“It’s all made of film, which is my dream,” Carpenter shared in an interview with Vogue’s red carpet host, La La Anthony. “Jonathan Anderson, the genius that he is.”
Carpenter revealed that Anderson and the Dior team designed all her looks for Coachella before “hopping right into making this dream dress.” The film stills incorporated into the gown are from the 1954 classic film Sabrina, which Carpenter described as “one of [her] favorite films of all time.”
Following her explanation of the Met Gala look, Anthony prompted Carpenter to reflect on her experience headlining Coachella.
“I don’t know, I blacked out a bit. And then I did it, and then I was driving in the car. And then that was it,” Carpenter recounted, calling the performance “electric.” She added, “I will remember it forever.”
Carpenter also discussed the intersection of her music and fashion, noting her enjoyment in experimenting with her style.
“At this point, I’m like, ‘the crazier the better.’ The more risks you take, the better the payoff,” the singer expressed.
Concluding her conversation with Anthony, Carpenter mentioned her excitement about reuniting with friends attending the Met Gala, as well as the year’s performances and costume exhibit.
This year, Carpenter has taken on a more prominent role at the Gala, serving as a member of the host committee alongside notable figures such as Doja Cat, LISA, Sam Smith, and Teyana Taylor.
