Russell Brand Denies New Charges Against Him
Russell Brand Pleads Not Guilty to Additional Charges
Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to two new charges—one of rape and one of sexual assault, as reported. This follows his earlier not guilty pleas to five other charges and is set against the backdrop of an upcoming court appearance scheduled for this summer.
Speaking to Sky News outside the London courtroom, Brand described himself as feeling “blessed” ahead of the hearing. He was seen arriving in his signature hat and a low-cut shirt.
The latest charges pertain to incidents alleged to have occurred in 2009 and involve two additional women, adding to previous claims that include two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault.
A critical question remains regarding whether these new charges will be incorporated into Brand’s upcoming trial in the UK. He has consistently denied all allegations and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to defend himself in court.
The investigation into Brand began nearly two years ago, spurred by a Channel 4 and Sunday Times inquiry. Despite concerns about potential extradition due to his residence in the U.S., Brand has participated in all pre-trial hearings, either in person or via video link.
