RoseBerry Media: Former TV and Tech Experts Join Forces to Revitalize Distributor Library Content with Vertical Video Creation
A significant development has emerged in the world of vertical video production, as a new company, RoseBerry Media, enters the arena, poised to impact television’s international program distribution landscape.
Founded by a coalition of seasoned television, technology, and investment executives, RoseBerry Media includes prominent figures such as Guy Hameiri, founder of Abot Hameiri, along with former Amagi executive Lior Friedman and entrepreneurs Itay Koppel and Simi Efrati. The company’s headquarters are located in New York, supported by creative and technology hubs in London and Tel Aviv.
RoseBerry Media aims to focus on producing and distributing “high-quality, mass appeal premium content for the vertical television era.” Notably, the company launches with established agreements to repurpose library content from multiple international distribution firms, which have previously stayed away from the microdrama and vertical video markets.
The company has secured partnerships with notable entities such as A+E Global Media, All3Media International, Banijay Rights, Cineflix Rights, and Fremantle, which owns Abot Hameiri, recognized for its success with Netflix drama Shtisel and local adaptations of The X Factor, Got Talent, and Survivor. Additionally, plans are underway for the rollout of a direct-to-consumer platform set to launch this summer.
Under this new model, select shows from each distributor will be transformed into vertical videos utilizing a proprietary AI-powered technology and workflow developed by RoseBerry. This innovative approach, referred to as ‘library verticalization,’ is designed to position the company as a vital partner for the industry, helping to unlock value from existing intellectual property and content libraries suited for the vertical format.
Historically, distributors have been cautious about venturing into the vertical video space, often choosing to work with established players in the field. While the details of specific programming deals remain under wraps, sources indicate that the genres included range from documentary and true crime—covering U.S. productions—to reality formats, including those designed specifically for vertical viewing, as well as scripted content.
In a recent feature ahead of the London TV Screenings, the lack of partnerships between vertical video producers and distributors was highlighted, with one insider questioning whether the vertical model could also serve distribution purposes. The formation of RoseBerry Media suggests that a viable pathway may exist, with Guy Hameiri, who departed Abot Hameiri in December 2024, as one of the model’s champions.
“By combining decades of television experience with advanced AI‑driven workflows, we’re building a scalable model that delivers brand‑safe, advertiser‑ready content which we believe will represent real value globally for our industry partners and our direct-to-consumer customers when we launch our App this summer,” Hameiri stated.
