Roblox’s ‘99 Nights In The Forest’ Game Being Adapted into a Movie by 20th Century
20th Century Studios announced on Monday its acquisition of the theatrical film rights to 99 Nights in the Forest, an action-survival game developed by Grandma’s Favourite Games and hosted on Roblox.
While there are no writer or director attachments at this time, the founders of Grandma’s Favourite Games—Alec Kieft, Matthew Hufton, and Cameron Angland—will serve as executive producers. J.R. Young will oversee the project for 20th Century Studios, with Michelle Kamme leading the deal that emerged from a competitive bidding process.
In 99 Nights in the Forest, players navigate through a haunted forest, striving to survive 99 nights while attempting to rescue four lost children and fend off aggressive wildlife. Since its launch less than a year ago, it has become the seventh most-played game in Roblox history, boasting an all-time peak player count of 14.2 million, ranking third on the platform, and regularly attracting hundreds of thousands of concurrent players.
David Greenbaum, President of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “The team at Grandma’s Favourite Games are exactly the kind of bold, imaginative creators we love working with at 20th Century Studios, with world-building ideas that feel innately cinematic. 99 Nights in the Forest has already connected with millions of players worldwide, and we’re excited to build on that foundation for audiences everywhere.”

The team at Grandma’s Favourite Games shared their excitement, remarking, “Growing up, Disney and 20th films were a huge part of our childhood, so collaborating with such legendary and enduring studios feels surreal. We’re excited to explore the world of 99 Nights in the Forest on a broader stage and to create some scares in an entirely new medium.”
Grandma’s Favourite Games was represented in the deal by Pryor Cashman.
