Reggie Dinkins’ Journey Captivates 5.8 Million Viewers in NBC’s Post-NFL Premiere Special
NBC’s "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" Premieres to Strong Viewership
"The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" garnered 5.8 million live and same-day viewers during its debut on NBC this past Sunday, as reported by Nielsen. This initial showing offers audiences a glimpse of what to expect when the comedy series officially premieres in its designated time slot in February.
In the key 18-49 demographic, the episode achieved a rating of 1.4. Starring Tracy Morgan, the series benefitted from a strong lead-in from the NFL playoff game featuring the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears. This combination propelled it to become the most-watched comedy of the season among broadcast networks, both in total viewership and in the 18-49 demo.
This premiere marks NBC’s highest viewership for a comedy series launch in three years, a notable achievement since "Night Court."
The future of "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" remains to be seen as it is set to return to NBC on February 23 with a repeat of the pilot, followed by a new episode. The series will continue airing in the 8:30 p.m. Monday time slot starting March 2.
"The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" centers on a former football player, portrayed by Morgan, as he attempts to restore his tarnished reputation. The main cast also features Erika Alexander, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall.
The pilot was written by Carlock and Means, who serve as executive producers alongside Morgan, Tina Fey, Eric Gurian, and David Miner. Rhys Thomas directed the pilot and is also credited as an executive producer for that episode. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts.
