Pregnant Woman Killed in DUI Collision in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. — A tragic accident early Sunday morning took the life of a pregnant woman when a Lexus collided with her vehicle at a red light in Anaheim.
The crash occurred around 12:10 a.m. at the intersection of North Anaheim Boulevard and the State Route 91 frontage road, according to the Anaheim Police Department. Witnesses reported that a Toyota sedan traveling southbound was struck by an eastbound Lexus that failed to stop for the red signal. The pregnant woman, who was a passenger in the Toyota, died at the scene.
Authorities arrested 24-year-old Daniel Ramos of Riverside, the driver of the Lexus, on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. He was taken into custody after displaying "objective signs and symptoms of impairment," police noted, and was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility.
As of now, the identity of the pregnant woman has not been disclosed, nor has any information about how far along she was in her pregnancy. Additionally, the drivers and passengers involved in the crash from both vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Descriptions of the other individuals involved have yet to be released.
