Power: Origins Welcomes New Cast Members as Production Begins for an Expanded Season 1
EXCLUSIVE: The latest installment in the Power Universe, Power: Origins, is expanding its cast as production commences in New Jersey. The first season will feature 18 episodes, surpassing the previous ten-episode seasons of other spinoffs, including Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force.
According to Starz, the new series aims to offer a lighter tone, described as “a fun, rambunctious exploration of a new time period in the ‘Power’ franchise.” Power: Origins will spotlight “the unbridled audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game.”
The newly announced recurring cast will join leads Spence Moore, who portrays young Ghost, Charlie Mann as Tommy, and Mekai Curtis reprising his role as Kanan. The series follows these young entrepreneurs as they navigate the competitive streets of New York City. The original characters were played by Omari Hardwick (Ghost), Joseph Sikora (Tommy), and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Kanan), who also narrates Raising Kanan.

Among the newly cast members is Jason Dirden, returning as Traymont Stinson, a character from Raising Kanan. Traymont, a former ally of the Thomas family, is known for his betrayal. He last appeared in the fourth season’s prequel and, despite facing near-fatal consequences, will now assume a recurring role in Power: Origins.
The first season will also feature Jennifer Ferrin (The Blacklist), Lizzy DeClement (New Amsterdam), Lenny Platt (The Hot Zone), Armani Gabriel (Blue Bloods), and Everett Osborne (Sweetwater) in recurring roles.
The character details for new cast members are as follows:
Kate Egan (Ferrin): Portrayed as melodramatic, attention-seeking, and manipulative, Tommy’s mother is fiercely cared for by him despite her struggles with addiction.
Jill Wexler (DeClement): Smart and ambitious, Jill is a nurse with aspirations for medical school. A recovering addict, she has a sharp tongue and holds Tommy accountable for his actions.
Lenny Seidell (Platt): A confident entrepreneur in the fitness industry, Lenny aims to build a fitness empire while engaging in less-than-ethical business practices.
J-Boogs (Gabriel): Known for his street smarts, J-Boogs is a reliable foot soldier and one of Ghost and Tommy’s most trusted allies.
Omay Moreau (Osborne): A successful tight end with the NY Jets, Omay is generous to his friends, immersing them in a world of luxury and parties—though motives may be questionable.
In reference to the upcoming spinoff, Power: Legacy, humor was injected into the conversation when a source noted, “I’m waiting on their money,” hinting at ongoing discussions with Starz.
Raising Kanan recently wrapped up its fourth season, with a fifth and final season in post-production slated to debut in 2026, establishing connections to Power: Origins. Meanwhile, Force continues to air new episodes weekly, featuring franchise favorite Tommy Egan and setting the stage for potential future storylines involving characters like Tariq St. Patrick from Power Book II: Ghost.
Sascha Penn, known for his work on Power Book III: Raising Kanan, will showrun and executive produce Power: Origins. He collaborates with Courtney Kemp, the original Power creator, who is also an executive producer through her company, End of Episode. Other executive producers include Jackson, Mark Canton, Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, and Pete Chatmon, who directs the series. Lionsgate Television will produce for Starz.
