Los Angeles Police Seek Hit-and-Run Driver After Fatal Pedestrian Accident
Los Angeles police are on the hunt for the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 65-year-old pedestrian in the Vermont area.
The crash took place on Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:10 p.m. A silver four-door sedan was traveling northbound on Figueroa Street near 75th Street when it struck the victim, identified as Jose Melesio, a resident of Chicago. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
Authorities report that the driver did not stop to provide identification or render assistance after the collision, violating legal responsibilities following an accident.
In light of the tragedy, a reward of up to $50,000 is being offered to anyone who can help identify and apprehend the suspect.
