Paul Giamatti Stars as an American Visitor in a Chilling English Seaside Horror Film ‘Boutique’
EXCLUSIVE: Two-time Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti is set to star in his first horror film in a decade, titled Boutique.
In this project, Giamatti portrays Calvin, an American tourist who travels to an unsettling English seaside town, inspired by the works of his favorite reclusive author. However, he soon finds himself enmeshed in a sinister secret society lurking within the community.
Filming is scheduled for this summer, with the film marking the feature directorial debut of writer-director Jim Gavin, known for his work on Lodge 49. Giamatti will co-produce alongside Dan Carey through their production company, Touchy Feely Films, along with James Harris and Mark Lane for Tea Shop Productions, and Guy Danella from XYZ Films, who is also financing the project.
This film represents a collaboration between Gavin and Touchy Feely, producers of AMC’s Lodge 49. XYZ Films is managing worldwide sales, while UTA will co-represent domestic rights. Jacob Jaffke will serve as executive producer.
Giamatti expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m crazy excited to be a part of this project and for Touchy Feely to be working with XYZ. Scary, funny, bizarre, strangely moving, it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read by one of the most talented guys I know, Jim Gavin!”
Known for his roles in Sideways, Billions, and Black Mirror, Giamatti was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the 2024 film The Holdovers. His upcoming projects include Tom McCarthy’s untitled drama and Jesse Eisenberg’s untitled musical, along with a lead role in an Eli Roth Hostel series.
Additionally, XYZ Films and Tea Shop Productions recently completed shooting the horror film Banquet, directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, featuring Meghann Fahy, Corey Mylchreest, and Alfie Williams.
“We’re honored and excited to be working with a legend like Paul and take his singular talents to new genre territories through Jim’s iconic script,” commented Guy Danella of XYZ Films.
Giamatti is represented by UTA, Kipperman Management, and Sloane, Offer.
