Patricia Heaton Reflects on Her Fond Memories with Co-Star Pat Finn: “Our Hearts Are Heavy”
Patricia Heaton Remembers Late Co-Star Pat Finn Following His Passing
Patricia Heaton, renowned for her role as the overburdened mother Frankie Heck on the beloved sitcom The Middle, has expressed her heartfelt condolences following the death of her co-star Pat Finn. Finn, who portrayed Bill Norwood on the show, passed away earlier this week at the age of 60 after a three-year battle with cancer at his home in Los Angeles.
In an emotional Instagram post, Heaton shared several photos of Finn alongside fellow cast members Neil Flynn, Jenn Ray, and Julie Brown. She wrote, “One of the finest and funniest human beings I know has left to be with Jesus. Pat Finn, whom most of you know as Bill Norwood on The Middle, had been battling cancer the last few years. At the too-young age of 60, he leaves behind his sweetheart Donna and three children. He was adored by all who knew him, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and wonderful comedy. He graced our movie ‘Unexpected’ with a scene-stealing turn as a crazy psychiatrist. Our hearts are broken, but as faithful Catholics, we know we will see each other again through God‘s mercy. Rest in peace dear brother. #patfinn #restinpeace #love.”
Finn’s contribution to television extended beyond The Middle, as he featured in 23 episodes from 2011 to 2018 as the amiable neighbor and friend of Mike Heck, played by Flynn. His versatile career included notable roles in various shows such as The George Wendt Show, Murphy Brown, and a memorable guest appearance as Joe Mayo in the classic Seinfeld episode “The Reverse Peephole.”
In addition to his extensive TV credits, Finn appeared in renowned series such as That ’70s Show, The King of Queens, Friends, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, among others. His film work includes appearances in the comedies Dude, Where’s My Car?, I Love You, Beth Cooper, and It’s Complicated, featuring stars like Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin.
Finn’s death leaves a profound impact on those who knew him, and his legacy will be remembered for both his comedic talent and his warm spirit.
