Noah Kahan Shares Insights on a Year of Change and His Hopes for Turning 29 on His Birthday

Noah Kahan is ushering in the new year while also celebrating his 29th birthday. With reflections on a transformative year, Kahan posted a photo on Instagram on January 1, showcasing himself with a champagne glass and a view of a sunset, while prominently displaying his wedding ring.
“28 was change and adaptation and understanding and growing and trying to go backwards and forwards at once and coming to terms with and accepting and being filled with gratitude… and god I hope 29 teaches me even half as much,” wrote Kahan in his caption.
In addition, Kahan shared a collection of Instagram Stories featuring well-wishes from friends. He also posted a playful image of himself in a fluffy purple jacket, poised to blow out candles on a blue and green birthday cake.

In a playful acknowledgement to his wife, Kahan shared, “Thank u bren for my cake love you,” referring to Brenna Nolan, whom he married in August 2025. He expressed gratitude with a follow-up selfie, stating, “Grateful beyond belief for all of you.”
The couple had a modest wedding ceremony in their home state of Vermont, confirmed by Kahan’s representative.
Rising to fame in 2022 with his viral hit single “Stick Season,” Kahan’s subsequent album explored themes of small-town New England life, resonating deeply with fans. He has collaborated with notable artists such as Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Brandi Carlile, Post Malone, and Kacey Musgraves.

Kahan’s birthday festivities coincide with his recent social media hints at a new album. Creating a TikTok account in early December, he adopted the username @thelastofthebugs, referencing a lyric from his song “The View Between Villages.” He shared a preview of a banjo-driven track on December 15, 2025, and on January 1, he wrote a heartfelt letter on TikTok, expressing that he feels as though he is “coming out of hibernation” in 2026.
