Nicola Peltz Beckham, Faye Dunaway, Jack Huston, Mira Sorvino, and Betty Gabriel Join Cast of the Ballerina Drama ‘Prima’
Exclusive: The Morelli Brothers Assemble All-Star Cast for Directorial Debut
Filmmakers Luca and Alessandro Morelli, collectively known as The Morelli Brothers, are making their directorial debut with the indie drama Prima, featuring an impressive cast. The film stars Nicola Peltz Beckham, known for FX’s The Beauty; Jack Huston of Day of the Fight; Betty Gabriel, recognized for her role in Get Out; along with Academy Award winners Faye Dunaway (Bonnie & Clyde) and Mira Sorvino (Shining Vale).
Prima centers on Margo (Peltz Beckham), a dedicated prima ballerina who was raised by her strict grandmother, a self-proclaimed "guardian of the art," played by Dunaway. The storyline escalates when the head of Margo’s ballet company, portrayed by Huston, marries a contemporary choreographer (Gabriel). This marriage disrupts the company’s long-standing traditions and ignites a subtle power struggle that jeopardizes its future. As the narrative unfolds, Margo grapples with profound questions about the worth of life choices, a dilemma that resonates broadly.
Currently in production, the latest draft of the film’s screenplay was written by Jenny Taylor-Whitehorn, based on a script by Allie Avital and Alia Azamat Ashkenazi. The project draws from a story conceived by Peltz Beckham. The film is being produced by Bunny Films and Will McCance, who has previously worked on Apex and Lola.
Peltz Beckham is represented by Will McCance and Gersh, while Dunaway’s representation comes from Tifanie J. Acosta at Entertainment Law Partners. Sorvino is represented by IAG and Circle Management + Production; Huston by 111 Media, CAA, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole; Gabriel by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment; Taylor-Whitehorn by Gersh; and Avital and Ashkenazi by Writ Large and Smuggler, respectively.
