New Spin-Off of ‘Second Marriage At First Sight’ Set to Air on Channel 4
The Married at First Sight franchise is set to expand with a new spin-off titled Second Marriage at First Sight. This exciting new installment will offer hopeful singles a chance for romance after unsuccessful attempts at love.
In a unique twist, half of the participants will hail from the UK, while the other half will come from Australia. Contestants will be paired across borders, fostering cross-cultural connections and challenges as they prepare to meet each other’s families in Australia. The couples will ultimately face a pivotal decision: who among them will consider relocating for love?
Second Marriage marks the first spin-off of this popular franchise, originally launched in Denmark and enjoying considerable success in the UK, Australia, and the U.S., where it recently transitioned to Peacock.
CPL Productions, the team behind Married at First Sight UK, is developing the new spin-off, which was unveiled at a Channel 4 showcase in London. “These eight well-loved MAFS singles didn’t find lasting love the first time, but they haven’t given up – and neither have we,” said Steve Handley, Channel 4’s entertainment head. “Everyone deserves a second chance at love, and this time they’re saying ‘I do’ to a stranger on the other side of the world, risking absolutely everything for another shot at getting it right. I think it will be our greatest love story yet.”
Second Marriage at First Sight is commissioned for E4, with executive producers Murray Boland, Danielle Lux, Susy Price, and Rachel Viner overseeing the project.
‘Derren Brown: Incognito’
In other programming news, magician Derren Brown is returning to Channel 4 with a new high-end social experiment titled Derren Brown: Incognito [working title].
The show will feature ten strangers from diverse backgrounds, isolated in a mysterious institution for a week. Each participant believes they have the same objective: to uncover the identities of the others while concealing their own. Through various games and discussions, the participants will challenge their assumptions and reevaluate their alliances.
Brown described this project as a “fascinating new venture.” Known for his regular appearances on Channel 4, he previously hosted specials and a series titled Derren Brown Investigates. Incognito is being produced by Vaudeville Productions.
