New Cast Announced for Season 2 of ‘We Were Liars’: Meet the Younger Sinclairs on Prime Video
Prime Video announces the casting of the main roles for Season 2 of We Were Liars, which will delve into events set 25 years prior to the first season. The new cast members include Josh Dallas (Manifest), Costa D’Angelo (Tell Me Lies), Peyton List (The Rookie), Madison Wolfe (True Detective), Parker Lapaine (House of the Dragon), and Elysia Roorbach (The Pitt), all of whom will feature prominently in the narrative inspired by E. Lockhart’s prequel novel, Family of Liars.
Dallas and List will portray the younger versions of family patriarch Harris and matriarch Tipper, while Lapaine, Roorbach, and Wolfe will take on younger versions of their daughters Carrie, Penny, and Bess, respectively. In Season 1, these roles were filled by David Morse (Harris Sinclair), Wendy Crewson (Tipper), Mammie Gummer (Carrie), Caitlin Fitzgerald (Penny), and Candice King (Bess).
D’Angelo joins the cast as Pfeff, a new character introduced from the Family of Liars storyline.
Season 2 follows Cadence (Lind) as she returns to Beechwood to confront her past. In her quest for truth, she uncovers the Sinclair Sisters’ secrets from the summer of 1999—an era marked by first love, rivalry, and murder. The narrative will include flashbacks featuring Carrie (Lapaine), Penny (Roorbach), and Bess (Wolfe) navigating their youthful challenges while reflecting on their historical experiences.

In the upcoming season, Dallas’s character Harris is portrayed as a dedicated provider and father, striving to maintain the family legacy amidst challenges. Despite his success in the media empire, he grapples with the overshadowing presence of his charming yet reckless older brother.
Tipper, played by List, embodies the role of a refined and ambitious matriarch. Known for her social skills and family management, she faces a crisis that reveals her hidden flaws and secrets.
Carrie, portrayed by Lapaine, is depicted as the academic overachiever torn between expectations and a newfound romantic interest. Penny, played by Roorbach, navigates the pressures of popularity while concealing her struggles with self-image and anxiety. Bess, portrayed by Wolfe, dreams of independence and artistic ambition, desperate for approval from her elder peers, leading her to make regrettable decisions.
D’Angelo’s Pfeff adds intrigue as a mysterious figure whose arrival disrupts the Sinclair sisters’ lives in ways they never anticipated.
Season 2 of We Were Liars will be overseen by co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie, with executive production from Emily Cummins, Brett Matthews, Marguerite MacIntyre, and E. Lockhart, the author of the original novel. The project is produced by Universal Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
Dallas is recognized for his role as Ben Stone in Manifest and has starred in films including Red Tails and Thor. D’Angelo’s recent work includes a role in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies and an upcoming Netflix drama. Lapaine has appeared in the UK stage production of Red Speedo and in an episode of House of the Dragons.
List has recurred on programs such as Star Trek: Picard and will appear in the film Spinning Gold. Roorbach is noted for her performances in short films and in Season 2 of The Pitt. Wolfe is known for her work in True Detective and Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches.
