Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Welcomes Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, and More as Filming Begins in Ireland
Production Begins for "Wednesday" Season 3 in Ireland
Production for the highly anticipated third season of Wednesday has officially commenced in Ireland, welcoming new cast members, including Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer.
Sarandon, known for his roles in Dog Day Afternoon and The Princess Bride, joins a lineup that features previously announced stars Winona Ryder, whose casting as Tabitha was revealed earlier this morning, and Eva Green, set to portray Morticia Addams’ sister, Ophelia. The returning cast includes Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, and Luis Guzmán as Gomez.
In a promotional video for the start of production, cast members such as Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and Hunter Doohan appeared, bringing a sense of macabre celebration as characters from the show were humorously introduced. The visuals hinted at intriguing character dynamics—Monday’s students were marked with an “N,” while the Addams family members showcased an “A.”
Ryder’s character, Tabitha, will join a host of new faces including Taylor as Cyrus, Morgan as Atticus, and Moyer as Daisy, all indicated with a capital “B” on their place-setting cards in the promotional material. Additionally, Sarandon plays Cousin Balthazar, a character intertwined with Addams family lore. The video teased various elements, concluding with an unexpected reveal of Uncle Fester’s bald head.
“It’s our dark delight to fling open Nevermore Academy’s gates once more as we begin production on Season Three,” stated creators and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar. “To our fans, your twisted theories have inspired nightmares, and we are excited to welcome new students as we unearth some long-rotting Addams Family secrets.”
Director and executive producer Tim Burton expressed enthusiasm for the new season, stating, “I’m so excited to be back for Season 3 and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky.”
More details regarding Wednesday Season 3 will be shared in the future. The second season, which premiered in 2025, quickly rose to become the fifth most-watched English-language series on Netflix, following the immense success of its first season, which remains at the top of the platform’s viewership rankings.
The previous season concluded with multiple cliffhangers, including the mysterious appearance of Aunt Ophelia in Grandmama Hester’s basement and Enid’s troubling transformation during a full moon. As fans eagerly await the new season, speculation about how these storylines will evolve continues to grow.
