Moreno Valley Toy Drive Saved by Generous Community Support
Moreno Valley Toy Drive Saved by Community Generosity
Families in Moreno Valley are set to experience a joyful Christmas, thanks to a timely intervention that rescued a toy drive on the brink of cancellation. Originally threatened by a significant lack of donations, the annual event will now proceed, bringing hope to those in need.
The Unity in Christ Ministries faced an unexpected setback when a major donor withdrew their contribution just a day before the planned event. This last-minute cancellation put the church’s goal of providing gifts for 300 families in jeopardy.
“Really, it’s not our fault that we didn’t meet the deadline but the person that was supposed to give us the toys didn’t come through. But it’s not their fault because they don’t get what they needed, either. We are pushing to see what we can do for the community,” said Pastor Billy Davis.
In response to the potential cancellation, NBC4 reported the situation, prompting an outpouring of support from both a viewer and the military. The military stepped in with a donation of over 500 toys, while an NBC4 viewer contributed $800 for the cause, ensuring that gifts would reach the church through a rideshare service.
Thanks to these acts of kindness, the toy drive can continue, providing much-needed assistance to local families this holiday season.
