Moby Stars in the Parisian Queer Comedy ‘Jim Queen’ Before Cannes Premiere
Moby and Lindsay Hicks Join Forces as Executive Producers for ‘Jim Queen’
In a significant development in the film landscape, musician Moby and producer Lindsay Hicks of Little Walnut will serve as executive producers for the animated feature film Jim Queen, directed by Nicolas Athane and Marco Nguyen. The film is set to make its world premiere this evening at the Cannes Film Festival.
Jim Queen is co-written by Athane alongside Simon Balteaux and Brice Chevillard and produced by David Alric and Arthur Delabays, with Moby and Hicks joining Arthur Cohen as executive producers. The project is produced by the French animation studio Bobbypills.
The film centers on a gay influencer whose life unravels when a virus transforms Paris’s gay men into straight men. In a bid to regain his former life, he teams up with a twink to seek a rumored cure in the Marais district. A teaser clip shared on Instagram this week garnered significant attention, amassing 1.6 million views within 48 hours.
The deal for the film was facilitated by executive producer Arthur Cohen, with Global Constellation overseeing worldwide sales.
Moby expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “When Lindsay and I started Little Walnut, our dream was to find smart, interesting, unique, funny movies with strong breakout potential to help produce. And Jim Queen is 100% all of those things.”
Hicks echoed this sentiment, saying, “From the moment I laid eyes on Jim Queen, I knew I wanted to be a part of his world. This film encompasses the heart, wit, boldness, and visual ambition we’re always looking to support. We’re excited to help build the film in a way that preserves what makes it so very special while also thinking expansively about its future.”
Nguyen added, “As the world grows more divided, nothing feels more uniting than a film that makes you laugh at yourself and love the person next to you.”
Little Walnut recently announced their role as co-executive producers for the non-fiction film Welcome Space Brothers, which explores The Unarius Academy of Science and its unique approach to spirituality and filmmaking. They are also co-producing Selah, a short film by Lara Everly that will premiere at Tribeca in 2026.
The studio is dedicated to developing and producing a diverse array of films, documentaries, music-driven projects, and immersive experiences.
