Hulu Unveils Trailer for Mindy Kaling’s New Comedy ‘Not Suitable For Work’
Hulu has released a trailer for its upcoming workplace comedy, Not Suitable For Work, from celebrated creator Mindy Kaling. The series is set to premiere on June 2 and offers a glimpse into the lives of young professionals in New York City.
Set in the bustling neighborhood of Murray Hill, Not Suitable For Work centers on five twenty-somethings navigating the challenges of early adulthood while attempting to strike a balance between their personal and professional lives.
In a key storyline, AJ Pascarelli, portrayed by Ella Hunt, is a first-year analyst at an investment bank. Inspired by The Wolf of Wall Street, she declares an "alpha" day as she prepares for work. Her intimidating boss, Bill Gibson, played by Jay Ellis, gathers her and other new hires for an inquiry about Yarn Barn, leading to a series of comedic encounters.
Avantika stars as Abhinaya “Abby” Chilukuri, a fashion assistant to a demanding celebrity stylist, portrayed by Constance Wu. In a humorous moment, Abby is reprimanded for her behavior with a client of The Gilded Age star Harry Richardson, who questions whether she was checking him out.
Davis Beau Bradley Barrett III, played by Will Angus, experiences a comical moment when AJ pepper-sprays him. Undeterred, he tells his roommate, medical student Kel Washington, portrayed by Nicholas Duvernay, that he has just met the woman of his dreams.
Jack Martin takes on the role of Josh Teitelbaum, who receives encouragement from his girlfriend to reach out to his father about a job opportunity at a network.
The daily grind and pressure inherent in their careers are highlighted through Ellis’ character, who discusses the themes of “dead weight," productivity, and the sacrifices needed for professional success.
In addition to the main cast, the series features recurring guest stars including Victor Garber, Greg Germann, Judy Gold, Ego Nwodim, Laura Bell Bundy, May Hong, Bhavesh Patel, Emilia Suárez, and Michael Benjamin Washington.
Created by Kaling, Not Suitable For Work is executive produced by her alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy, known for The Sex Lives of College Girls and The Mindy Project. The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where both Kaling and Grandy have overarching deals.
