Miley Cyrus is officially engaged to musician Maxx Morando, as confirmed by PEOPLE on Tuesday, December 2. The engagement news comes shortly after the couple made a public appearance together, sparking discussions about their relationship.
In an interview promoting the upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash, which features her song "Dream as One," Cyrus expressed her feelings about the engagement. “What has astounded me is that for us, our privacy and keeping it small has been something that I’ve actually been able to have,” said the 33-year-old singer. She emphasized the importance of having control over what aspects of her life she shares, crediting her growth and maturity for this newfound perspective.

Relating her relationship to the themes of Avatar, Cyrus noted that the film embodies concepts of love, family resilience, and the strength found in togetherness. She remarked that these themes resonated with her current life stage, referring to it as a "perfectly thematic" alignment.
Cyrus and Morando’s engagement comes on the heels of their attendance at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere on December 1, where Cyrus was seen adorned with a sparkling ring. This engagement ring, designed by Jacquie Aiche, features a cushion-cut stone set on a chunky 14-karat yellow gold band. Jewelry experts have estimated its value at up to $450,000.
The couple first linked romantically in late 2021 and officially made their relationship public in April 2022. Cyrus has shared that their meeting occurred during a blind date, which turned into a meaningful relationship. Reflecting on her choice, she has previously stated, "I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me."
As Cyrus prepares to enter this new chapter of her life, fans eagerly await the upcoming release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, set to hit theaters on December 19.
