Miley Cyrus Expresses Desire to Return to Acting at Palm Springs Film Festival
Miley Cyrus, the award-winning musician and actress, has sparked excitement about a potential return to acting. During the 37th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival held on January 3, 2026, the 33-year-old star expressed that she would "love to" act again.
Cyrus, who catapulted to fame as Hannah Montana on Disney Channel, has taken a hiatus from acting after her notable appearance in a 2019 episode of Black Mirror. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, she conveyed her enthusiasm for re-engaging with the craft.
While at the festival, Cyrus, awarded the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for her ballad "Dream as One" from Avatar: Fire and Ash, revealed her hope of collaborating with talented individuals in attendance. "I hope some brilliant mind in here has the right thing for me," she stated, adding, "If someone genius comes by, be like, ‘Hey, Miley is here.’"
Cyrus clarified that she is eager to step into someone else’s creative vision. "Just tell them, ‘What do they want me to do?’ I would love to go into someone else’s world,” she remarked. Her last prominent onscreen role mirrored her first—portraying a pop star named Ashley O in Black Mirror.
Despite her recent minor appearances, including a brief role in 2024’s Drive-Away Dolls, Cyrus’s past major credits include the animated film Bolt (2008) and romantic flicks like LOL (2012) and The Last Song (2010).

Adding to the buzz, Cyrus hinted at the possibility of reprising her iconic role as Hannah Montana, mentioning plans for an anniversary celebration of the series. When asked about potential plans, she affirmed, "Absolutely. We’re working hard on them," but playfully withheld further details.
