Miley Cyrus Brings Nostalgia in Silver at the ‘Hannah Montana’ 20th Anniversary Premiere
Miley Cyrus celebrated the 20th anniversary of her iconic role in Hannah Montana at the world premiere of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on March 23 at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. Dressed in a shimmering silver gown and sporting Hannah’s signature blonde bangs, the 33-year-old actress and singer embraced the nostalgia of the evening.
The reunion special features guest appearances from stars like Selena Gomez and Chappell Roan, and it is set to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on March 24, coinciding precisely with the date of the original show’s debut in 2006. Cyrus reflected on her experiences with the series, highlighting its significance to fans.
At the premiere, Cyrus posed for photos alongside her former co-stars Shanica Knowles, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Cody Linley, Jason Earles, and Moisés Arias, evoking memories of the show that captivated audiences for years. Her fiancé, Maxx Morando, and family members, including her mother Tish, stepfather Dominic Purcell, and sister Brandi, joined her on the red carpet.
Cyrus has been working on the anniversary special since the previous year. In a recent interview with Variety, she shared, “I learned this terrible habit — but I actually think it was good advice — from [godmother] Dolly [Parton]. She told me that if you want something to happen, promote it before it exists. Then no one can say no. So I just started promoting a Hannah Montana 20th-anniversary special that literally did not exist.”
She acknowledged the enduring connection between herself and the character of Hannah Montana, stating, “It’s not just a TV show. I see daily how important Hannah is to people. When I travel, people bring me Hannah merch. They ask, ‘Are you ever going to do another season?’”
One notable absence from the reunion was Emily Osment, who portrayed Miley Stewart’s best friend in the series. In an Instagram video, Osment explained that her commitments filming the CBS sitcom Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, a spin-off of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, prevented her from attending both the premiere and the anniversary special.
Despite her absence, Osment expressed gratitude to fans, saying, “I’m so grateful that you guys all still love the show. I’m so proud to be a part of it.”
Cyrus’s celebration marks a significant moment, not only for her but also for the many fans who have cherished the series over the past two decades.
