Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton revealed insights into his pricing structure during a recent appearance on the “U Up?” podcast. The 42-year-old stylist, known for his work with high-profile clients, shared that the highest fee he has ever charged for his services reached up to $100,000, which he noted included travel expenses.
“I’ve charged everything, from $100 back in the day to six figures,” Appleton explained, emphasizing that such high-priced engagements are rare and typically “a one-off.” He added, “But don’t forget that then you get taxed 50 percent, then your agent takes something. It gets dwindled down.”
Appleton, whose client roster includes stars like Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, and Christina Aguilera, has been behind some notably transformative hairstyles, such as Kardashian’s icy blonde look in April 2024 and Jenner’s blonde bob in October 2025.
In addition to his professional achievements, Appleton recently released a self-help book titled Your Roots Don’t Define You., The memoir features acknowledgments to several of his celebrity clients. He expressed deep gratitude toward Drew Barrymore for her encouragement, stating, “Your authenticity and kindness shine through in everything you do, and your belief in me has had a lasting impact I will never forget.” Lopez was also mentioned, with Appleton thanking her for being “not only a friend but a guiding light throughout my career.”

During a January 14 appearance on the “Viall Files,” he candidly detailed his past experiences with suicidal ideation as he worked through his identity. “I was in the hospital for a while,” he shared. “It was the beginning of the journey of finding acceptance.”
